Independence Day rings in the fun
By Peter Bothum | The News Journal

We can't give you every detail on every Fourth of July celebration everywhere.
But we can provide a fine smattering of geographically diverse celebrations to choose from, ranging from massive waterfront picnics with orchestras to a small-town parade.

Rehoboth Beach
Anyone who has taken in in the fireworks display at Rehoboth at least once as a kid will have those colored bombs in the sky emblazoned in their memories forever.
This year, they'll light up the sky at about 9:15 p.m. July 4, and can be seen up and down the boardwalk and shoreline.
After the rockets' red glare, head on over to the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand for a concert by the Funsters. The 10-piece band specializes in classic rock like The Rolling Stones and Bruce Springsteen, but also will serve up covers by the likes of Toby Keith, The Commodores, Tim McGraw and James Brown. The show is slated to start around 10 p.m., immediately following the fireworks.
If you're not in town and you want to come in for the annual fireworks display on July 4, save yourself some time and trouble by taking the Shuttle from Del. 1 at County Bank, 19927 Shuttle Road, beginning at 5 p.m. The Jolly Trolley Shuttle Service also will help alleviate traffic, running from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. between Rehoboth and Dewey.
