Vinyl Shockley
PERFORMANCE
DATE: Saturday, June 18th
TYPE: Rhythm & Blues
WEBSITE: www.vinylshockley.com
DESCRIPTION: The music of vinyl shockley has been called "blue-eyed soul with a Stax/Volt twist", and Ed's "smiling, pensive voice" "reminiscent of a young Van Morrison". As one reviewer wrote: "take the time to enjoy this honest music that soothes the soul and moves the feet." After successfully supporting others as a drummer, Ed Shockley, the guiding force behind vinyl shockley, decided to finally pursue his dream. As a singing drummer, Ed had been discouraged from attempting to "front" a band from behind the kit. "Different managers and record companies had asked me to move either to the keyboards or out front to more effectively lead a band, and I've tried it all. But nothing ever feels as good or as natural to me as singing and playing drums." So Ed went back to his roots to put together vinyl shockley. "There is a type of music that has always appealed to me, a little off-center, that reflects the influences that rhythm & blues and hillbilly music have on each other." The way they come together, in Ed's mind, is unique. Finding like-minded musicians to create this music proved to be a challenge. After several starts and stops Ed finally found a group of musicians that understood the flavor he was looking for and the band's first CD followed.

Dennis Schocket formerly fronted the Baltimore band The Rattlecats and currently leads the harmony-laden band Starbelly. Pete Wiedmann is in Delaware favorites Love Seed Mama Jump and has been focusing on his own original project The Gamilons. Cliff Hillis has been in a number of bands including Philadelphia's IKE and he continues to release solo records as well as perform with Eric Bazilian (of The Hooters) in The Eric Bazilian Band. You won't catch The Threetles sporting mop-top wigs or Beatles suits, they just enjoy playing the music. But one thing is for sure at all of their shows- "A Splendid Time Is Guaranteed For All!"

DESCRIPTION: The Blue Tips are not your typical variety band that merely blends the expected oldies with today's radio hits. Instead, these guys keep dance floors packed and concerts rocking by breathing new life into classic soul and motown favorites: music that every generation knows and loves. Their charm is due in large part to their relative youth when compared to the style of music they play, and their exuberant live performances reflect both their love of this music and their skill in playing it. The band features a 6pc lineup including a smokin' brass/horn section, and the incomparable Elliot Currie on lead guitar and vocals. Elliot's style and energy will remind audiences that rhythm & blues music is not just in name alone: its a style that comes from deep down in the soul.

The Diamonds
PERFORMANCE
DATE: Friday, September 2nd
TYPE: Oldies/Originals
WEBSITE: www.thediamonds.cc
DESCRIPTION: It's been over Fifty years since THE DIAMONDS released an instant million selling hit called Little Darlin'. The song continues to sell worldwide and to date has sold over 20 million copies. Through the years since the release of Little Darlin' THE DIAMONDS have learned one important lesson-the durability of 1950's music is as much about the future as about the past. As a result, THE DIAMONDS continue to expand their audience to this day by performing in a myriad of surroundings, including: with Symphony Orchestras, in Performing Arts Theatres and major concert halls, on cruise ships, in casinos, at county and state fairs, on tours of England, Ireland, Brazil, Chile, Korea, and Japan, for benefit concerts and conventions, at nightclubs and, through the most recent addition to their repertoire, the Christmas show "Silver Bells And Diamonds". "We've been pleased to find a growing audience among all age groups. They like songs they can understand, remember and actually sing the words to-tomorrow, or even 20 years from now." A major reason for THE DIAMONDS' longevity as performers and entertainers lies in the diverse backgrounds of the individual members of the group. Multi-talented tenor, Bobby Poynton, graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1980 and shortly thereafter moved to Hollywood to pursue his dream of becoming an actor. He landed parts on such shows as Days of Our Lives, Jake and the Fatman, Life Goes On, Scarecrow and Mrs. King, The Sentinel, Touched by an Angel, Viper, Promised Land and Walker: Texas Ranger. Then his continuing desire to sing full time resulted in a 6-year stint as a member of The Lettermen, recording six albums with that vocal trio. Bobby's wide array of talents continues to entertain all that see and hear him.
